Professional Experience:
Joined Research Scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in the year 1993 after completing one year Post graduate orientation course from BARC Training School.
Mainly worked in two broad areas in last 25 years vizz. Organic Solar Cells/Organic Electronics and Growth of Single Crystals. Following are the achievements in brief:
Organic Solar Cells/Organic Electronics
1. Devised novel methodologies for improving the efficiency of organic solar
cells and innovative approaches have yielded more efficient bulk hetero junction, dye sensitized, and
perovskite solar cells.
2. Demonstrated an exfoliation method for preparatoin of short and thin
graphene sheets. Inclusion of these short graphene sheets significantly improve
the mobiity of conducting polymers. A model for this conductity enhancement was
proposed.
3. Successfully grafted several small organic molecules by self assembly on
Si substrated and demonstrated their possible application as diode, transistor,
memory, and passive resistance for future nanoelectonic devices.
4. Initiated organic solar cell activity and setting up of state of the art
laboratory for organic electronics, photovoltaic device fabrication at
TPD/BARC.
5. Contributed in the development of a new
electrochemical method for a fast and controlled etching of FTO coated glass
substrates.
6. Contributed in fabrication of flexible conducting polymer field effect
transistors.
7. Contributed in the fabrication of super-hydrophobic films of polypyrrole
on stainless stell substrate.
Crystal
Growth
1. Complete know how and technology for the development of automatic diameter
control czochralski crystal growth system was developed by me (DOI:
10.1021/cg0340897). Design and fabrication of appropriate electronic modules,
their integration, interfacing of subsystems with computer, development of
software, implementantion of auto safe-guards/actions in emergency situaltions,
etc. Full features were demonstrated at 1800 C. Contributed significantly in
the setting up of state of the art new crystal growth laboratory.
2. Developed the technology for growth of large size oxide and halide crystals.
